Dance in the rain.

“Not all storms come to disrupt your life – some come to clear your path.” Anon

Have you ever had a ‘storm’ enter your life only to realise how lucky you were it did?

Maybe it was Motherhood. Maybe when you first had your baby you really struggled, however, later down the track you realised just how full your life was because of it.

Maybe it was a job that was so tough it forced you to leave. Once you left, however, it became really clear what you were supposed to do next in your professional career. Maybe it was a broken relationship that felt like your heart was completely shattered. Once finished, however, you were able to give yourself the time, effort and love you deserve.

The storms of life come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they’re just a sprinkle but at other times they can come with damaging winds and hail. We never really know what sort of storm we’re going to get, however, one thing is certain – eventually it will be followed by shine. The sun comes back out and what to do next becomes clearer. How quickly that sun returns quite often comes down to our mindset and mentality during the storm. Do we sit still, feeling sorry for ourselves and wait for it to pass? Or do we focus not on what we’ve lost but rather what we’ve gained from this storm passing?

Don’t get me wrong, I know sometimes that’s a lot easier said than done. There’s also some storms where that’s just not possible to begin with. However, in a lot of the storms that pass us in life we can decide if we want to stay inside and let it stop us, or face it head on and learn to dance in the rain. So, the next time you have a storm passing you by, ask yourself – what can I gain from this storm? And how can those things help me to learn to dance in the rain?
